Welcome to my math class! I wanted to let you know a little bit about my personal and professional background, so we can begin to get to know each other. I am from Mobile, AL so I love the beach, good Gulf seafood, being from the South, Mardi Gras, & SEC football. I am a VERY proud graduate of Auburn University and will stand by the statement that Auburn is the best place on Earth. I earned my Masters in Education from Berry College. This summer I completed my Specialist in Education degree at Kennesaw State University! I love being outdoors, watching football, and just being with my friends and family. I am so fortunate to have two amazing boys. Miller is a senior at Harrison, and Carter is in 8th grade this year at McClure. I am sure you will hear a lot more about my boys throughout the semester. My husband's name is Anthony. We just got married in Jamaica 5 years ago, and it was awesome!
I have been teaching at Harrison since 2001 (my former last name is Holmgren if you have older siblings). I have to tell you that you are lucky to be at such a great school! I love to be involved with all kinds of school activities. I am one of the assistant cross country and track coaches at Harrison. I am now coaching part-time, so I can spend more time with my family and balance all of my professional responsibilities. Since I don't know what to do with a lot of free time on my hands, I am also in my 14th year as a senior class sponsor. Being one of the co-sponsors for the senior class is a huge undertaking, but it is rewarding to get to be apart of making everyone's senior year special. As a student in my class, you will get to see what goes into planning for senior events first-hand. My proudest professional accomplishment was being chosen as Teacher of the Year by my amazing colleagues for 2011-2012.
That's a little bit about me, but we'll get to know each other better throughout the semester.
GO HOYAS! (and War Eagle)
